Deposit & Payment Operations Director - Grade 630

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Deposit and Payment Operations Director role was created to support the Bank’s ability to scale and innovate while ensuring operational accuracy, strong controls, and regulatory compliance. 

 

This role is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Deposit and Payment Operations, including CIF, Item Processing, Checking and Savings Operations, Internal Reconciliations, and Payment Operations (ACH, Wires, and Bill Pay). The Director will ensure operational efficiency, strong risk and regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer experience. In addition, this role will lead initiatives to modernize and enhance operational capabilities to support the Bank’s ability to scale and grow. As a member of the Bank’s senior leadership team, this position will play a critical role in shaping the Bank’s strategic direction and long-term success. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee all bank operations associated with deposit and payment account onboarding, maintenance, services, and deposit operations  

  • Work with Bank leadership to set the strategic vision and develop a long-term roadmap for operations and deposit support for the Bank’s geographically dispersed teams and customers, in an ever changing corporate and regulatory compliance environment 

  • Maintain knowledge to effectively and efficiently manage and direct the tasks performed by Deposit Operations including, but not limited to, balancing and reconciliations, payment processing, debit card and ATM operations, unposted & return items, NSF items, incoming and outgoing collections processing, deposit verification, large item review, IRA processing, overseeing Regulation D, Regulation DD, Regulation E claims monitoring, Regulation CC/Uncollected funds hold review, cash shipment reconciliation, cash balancing, general ledger adjustments, on-line entries, monetary instrument balance and reconciliation, IOLTA reporting, and other maintenance functions at customer and account levels including address changes, product code changes, etc 

  • Manage aspects of wire transfers and ACH file origination, processing, and settlement activities.  Serves as a subject matter expert to maintainsolid working relationship with vendors who provide services in these areas. Serve as subject matter expert for electronic payment processing channels such as ACH, Wires, RDC, Mobile Deposits and Bill Pay.  Actively manage the processes to minimize risk while balancing improvements to customer experience and ensuring solid working relationships are maintained with third-party vendors providing these services to the Bank 

  • Review all relevant service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure adherence, as well as clarity and accuracy.  Assess and identify opportunities to implement new SLAs during time of growth and change 

  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor the efficiency and accuracy of Deposit Operations functions and uses gathered information to identify opportunities for improvement. These metrics will provide insight to trends and performance expectations 

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of deposit processing, payment operations, and online/mobile banking systems, including remote banking channels, EFT operations, cash management, and check capture processes  

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to develop clear, wellsupported business cases  

  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling teams and operational processes within fastpaced, evolving environments  

  • Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for deposit and payment operations  

  • Strong people leadership and talent development capabilities, including effective risk management and oversight of thirdparty providers and vendors  

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels 

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive banking experience  

  • At least 5 years of senior management experience  

  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and mentor teams 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate. May also involve travel to customers and property locations. 

HAZARDS: 

The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting and those present in commuting by car. Occasionally, they may be exposed to those conditions present in public forums and meeting places.

Pay Details:  $146,000- $208,500 

 
Please note, the base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other applicable business and organizational needs. This role is incentive eligible based upon company, business, and/or individual goal achievement and performance.
