Credit Analyst IV - Commercial Credit Underwriting
Provident Bank, a multi-billion dollar bank with branches in NJ, NY and eastern PA is seeking an experienced commercial credit analyst for an opportunity based in our Paramus, NJ office. Qualified candidates must be proficient in C&I lending including debt service coverage and cash flow, have seven or more years related experience and a sound understanding of accounting.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for detailed research and credit analysis of complex credit requests in Commercial Credit Underwriting. This is a senior position. The incumbent is expected to have comprehensive knowledge of credit & risk analysis, credit rules, structuring of credits, regulations and documentation with the ability to exercise independent judgment within established Underwriting Guidelines and Credit Policy. At this level, the incumbent is expected to increasingly work with and assist the Commercial Loan Officers on customer calls and structuring deals. The incumbent will show leadership in training less experienced staff members and handle more complex and/or challenging assignments (e.g., larger deals or complicated request with greater exposure to the Bank). The incumbent will have a key role of consequence to the team outside of their credit related work. For instance, being an Administrator of the Credit Quest workflow software.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze customer and prospect financial information for renewals and new business |

Prepare loan approval and credit analysis, assist in structuring loans. |

Spread financial statements and verify covenant compliance. |

Accompany Commercial Loan Officers on customer and prospect calls. Participate in discussions with management regarding creditworthiness of proposed loan requests. |

UPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Subject to business needs may have supervisory responsibilities.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
Thorough knowledge of underwriting and credit analysis.
Strong analytical skills with ability to highlight and mitigate risks.
Knowledge of commercial real estate lending.
Proficient in Commercial & Industrial lending including debt service coverage and cash flow.
Strong knowledge of and the ability to practically apply, modern office software (MSword, Excel).
Strong verbal and written communication.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and complete them on time.
Ability to conduct meetings, effectively present information and respond to questions from
peers, auditors and various levels of management.
Sound grasp of accounting.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. MBA preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
7 or more years in commercial banking
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Certification in Credit Risk or Credit Management preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels usually are moderate.
