POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Market Sales Manager (MSM) is responsible for the successful business development and attainment of growth and revenue goals in their assigned market, which includes business planning and budgeting. They are also responsible for development of a business referral network (Centers of Influence (COI's)), prospecting of potential clients, active participation in networking events and holding leadership roles within community and business organizations to extend name recognition and the reputation of the Bank.
The Market Sales Manager is responsible for effectively and positively leading their direct and indirect reports. This includes but is not limited to coaching, creating a positive work environment, performance/talent management, interviewing and hiring, etc. They are also responsible for overseeing the operational proficiency, sales success, and the development of the branch employees in their assigned market while ensuring that the branch practices sound risk management and adheres to all policies and procedures of the Bank.
Primary responsibilities of the Market Sales Manager include but is not limited to oversight of a minimum of two branches with a minimum deposit base of $250MM or a High Opportunity Market.
The Market Sales Manager will lead retail and corporate initiatives and will be responsible for mentoring and coaching new hires and peers as needed. The MSM may serve as a back-up and support to the Regional Sales Manager, as necessary.
The MSM will travel regularly within and outside of their assigned market for bank and community events, branch visits, prospecting clients, customer visits, internal and external meetings, etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development:
- Successfully develops small business and commercial business in their markets through Centers of Influence (COI) referrals, networking, and general prospecting to achieve branch growth goals.
- Business planning and tactical execution of strategic goals.
- Branch sales and service responsibilities as required.
- Acquires new consumer and business prospects.
- Expands and retains customer relationships.
Leadership:
- Oversees direct reports to deliver branch sales, service, and operational excellence.
- Coach and mentor branch managers.
- Assists the Regional Sales Manager in achieving goals for the overall Region.
- Communicates, motivates, monitors and coaches the branch staff in attaining production and referral goals.
- Assures operations standards are met through proper risk management and branch adherence to bank policies.
- Monitors and controls revenue and expense budget targets.
- Promotes the professional growth of employees through planned development activities and experiences for succession advancement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. This includes interviewing, hiring, training and managing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing and resolving employee complaints and concerns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 7 years’ experience in a retail sales/service environment.
- 3 years’ management/supervisory experience.
- 3 years business development experience.
- Excellent interpersonal emotional intelligence skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate appropriately and professionally at all levels both internally and externally.
- Solid math and analytical skills.
- Ability to understand and consistently follow safety and security practices, compliance and regulatory requirements, and policy and procedures.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships through consultative conversations and to identify internal and external customer needs.
- Strong customer service/advocacy skills with the ability to identify needs-based sales opportunities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technology skills with an ability to quickly learn new programs.
- Intermediate knowledge in the Microsoft Office environment.
- Ability to evaluate and deliver performance feedback and effectively coach, develop and manage direct and indirect report.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Multi-branch experience preferred.
- Banking experience preferred.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES:
- Will be required to register as a mortgage loan originator with the NMLS before or upon commencement of this position. NMLS registration must be completed prior to being allowed to take mortgage loan applications, negotiate or extend terms of a mortgage or other loan secured by a residence.
- Life and Health Licenses to support investment program (preferred)
- Eg. May require travel between Customer sites, Provident Offices, or Branches
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Retail Banking Branch Areas
Work is mainly performed under general office conditions in a retail-banking establishment. Willing and able to work required overtime. Willing and able to travel to other locations/branches. Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to adapt to new job locations and reassignments as directed.

- Occasional bending or stooping (To retrieve coins from individual vault)
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate. May also involve travel to customers and property locations.
