Small Business Portfolio Specialist

Summary: The Small Business Portfolio specialist Monitors a portfolio of Small Business loans ensuring timely loan payments and administering all servicing requests and reporting

 

This position manages the small business portfolios with the market managers and regionals including managing the delinquencies and overdrafts.  This is an individual contributor which requires little supervision and will be making independent decisions for the department;   they must be able to understand the financials along with managing the risk and being familiar with the Small Business underwriting guidelines.

 

This position will also be managing the relationship with the vendor and keeping them updated on Bank policies.

 Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and service a portfolio of existing loans while working alongside the retail Market Managers and Regionals
  • Perform periodic reviews of all credit, loan, and collateral files to ensure information is current, cure exceptions, and report difficulties
  • Seek to maintain appropriate levels of Credit Quality in origination, renewal and portfolio monitoring of small business loans, consistent with overall objectives of the Department
  • Monitor and remain apprised of Small Business underwriting practices
  • Monitors lines of credit up to $500k and loans up to $750k.
  • Establishes and maintains a system for the small business portfolio.  monitors the receipt of relevant documentation to keep loan files current.
  • Develops and maintains customized reporting that provides in depth analysis of the various segments within the small business portfolio, including portfolio monitoring reports.  Creates periodic reports for senior management.
  • Monitors loans for early detection and identification of deteriorating credit, delinquency, overdrafts, line usage and recommends proper course of action.
  • Understands, detects and reports early warning signs of problem credit so as to minimize risk of loss. (Key Risk Indicators)
  • ensures accuracy and maintenance of customer records and files and updates information as needed. Orders appropriate real estate property and environmental searches.
  • Serves as a liaison with outside Small Business lending vendor.
  • Communicates effectively

SKILLS AND TRAINING:

  • Strong knowledge of small business lending, credit policy and portfolio management
  •  in depth knowledge of small business regulations and guide lines
  • knowledge of general loan standards and loan review administration
  • Comprehensive loan analysis experience
  • knowledge of Microsoft office Applications. Proficiency in excel
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree In accounting, finance or business administration Preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years’ experience relevant to small business lending

Familiar with credit decisioning software

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment.  Noise levels usually are moderate.

HAZARDS

The hazards are only those present in a normal office setting.
