Senior Data Engineer - Hybrid

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Provident Bank is seeking a hands‑on Senior Data Architect to design, build, and evolve enterprise data architectures that support our core banking transformation, cloud data warehouse, and analytics ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role, embedded in delivery teams and focused on real‑world execution, not conceptual or ivory‑tower architecture. You will work closely with data engineers, platform teams, governance partners, and business stakeholders to design scalable, compliant, and analytics‑ready data solutions that support long‑term enterprise goals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands‑On Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models, including hubs, links, satellites, and analytics consumption layers
  • Apply Data Vault 2.0 modeling techniques to support scalable, auditable, and historized data solutions
  • Produce detailed architecture and design artifacts to guide engineering implementation
  • Define ingestion, transformation, and consumption patterns that meet performance and regulatory requirements
  • Partner closely with data engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately
  • Support data governance needs including lineage, auditability, and data controls

 

Agile & Iterative Delivery

  • Actively participate in Agile teams, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and design reviews
  • Provide just‑in‑time architectural guidance to support continuous delivery
  • Iterate designs based on feedback, evolving requirements, and delivery outcomes
  • Contribute to architecture reviews with a strong focus on practical, executable solution

 

Skills Required

  • Strong hands‑on experience in data architecture and data modeling
  • Practical experience with Data Vault 2.0 modeling
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud data warehousing and analytics platforms
  • Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into implementable technical designs
  • Familiarity with banking, risk, compliance, and data governance concepts
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

 

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics
    (Depth of hands‑on experience matters more than exact years)
  • 6+ years of data modeling experience
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise‑scale data architectures
  • Experience working with large transactional platforms; core banking systems a strong plus
  • Exposure to modern platforms such as Snowflake, dbt, Databricks, Coalesce, or similar tools

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate. This position involves travel to customers and property locations.

  • Occasional bending or overhead lifting (storing files or boxes)

Pay Details:
$87,200 - $124,500 annually

 

Please note: The base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate’s skills and experience, job‑related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other applicable business and organizational needs.

 

This role is incentive eligible based upon company, business, and/or individual goal achievement and performance.
