Security Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The Security Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the security operations team, ensuring the safety and security of the organization's assets, employees, and customers. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect against internal and external threats. The Security Operations Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure a coordinated response to security incidents and provide leadership in crisis situations. 

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

    

  • Leadership: Provide leadership to members of the team including performance evaluations and reviews, training, and mentorship.
  • Reporting: Ensure accurate and complete reporting on cyber events, attacks, defenses, flows, traffic, etc. to provide an accurate view of the Bank’s security posture, defenses, and capabilities.
  • Oversight: Provide oversight for all Bank communication & digital assets including networks, applications, cloud systems, offensive, and defensive technologies. This includes vulnerability management.
  • Incident Response and Management: Develop and implement incident response plans for different types of security breaches. - Lead investigations into security incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting. - Collaborate with IT and other departments to mitigate the impact of security incidents.
  • Vendor Management: Co-Manage all secure technology vendors and service providers to ensure the Bank’s security from endpoint to edge including customer-facing technologies and properties.
  • Development: Assist in the development of the bank’s Information Security program. Ensure appropriate development of complimentary programs and procedures that support execution of the program.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with other departments to ensure a unified approach to security across the organization. - Liaise with external security agencies and law enforcement as necessary. - Educate and train staff on security policies and procedures.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. This includes interviewing, hiring, training and managing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing and resolving employee complaints and concerns

 

SKILLS AND TRAINING

  • Experience in team building, mentoring, and performance management
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk management, and incident response
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle high pressure situations and make quick decisions
  • Proficiency in security technologies including but not limited to access control, SIEM integration, firewalls, encryption, etc.
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigations strategies
  • Knowledge of threat modeling and vulnerability assessment methodologies
  • Experience in developing and executing incident response plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating security vulnerabilities/breaches
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and the ability to ensure the organization adheres to them.

 

EDUCATION 

 

Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE 

 

10+ years information security experience preferred with a portion of those years in a leadership role.  Experience in financial services is desired but not required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a normal office environment.  Noise levels are usually moderate. 

 

HAZARDS

The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting.
