Portfolio Manager III- Middle Market

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provident Bank is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager III to support a portfolio of Middle Market Lending relationships. This role is responsible for managing the ongoing credit and portfolio administration needs of commercial clients while partnering closely with Relationship Managers to strengthen client relationships, support growth opportunities, and maintain the overall quality of the loan portfolio. The position also plays a key role in underwriting, financial analysis, credit recommendations, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Portfolio Management

  • Manage assigned Middle Market commercial relationships, including retention, expansion, and client service in partnership with Relationship Managers.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, credit quality, covenant compliance, risk ratings, delinquency trends, and emerging issues.
  • Prepare annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and ongoing portfolio analyses.

Credit Analysis & Underwriting

  • Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and loan presentations for new and existing borrowing relationships.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity, and borrower/guarantor strength.
  • Assess lending risks, identify mitigating factors, and support structuring and underwriting in accordance with bank policy and credit standards.

Relationship Support

  • Serve as a trusted partner to Relationship Managers and internal business partners.
  • Participate in customer calls, portfolio strategy discussions, and new business opportunities.
  • Support a seamless credit process while maintaining strong relationships with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Compliance, and key stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of commercial lending practices, credit policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of commercial banking, credit, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.
  • Strong financial statement analysis and commercial credit underwriting skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending products, credit risk management, and portfolio administration.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment.  Noise levels usually are moderate. May also involve travel to customers and property locations.

  • Occasional bending or overhead lifting (storing files or boxes)

 

The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting.

Pay Details:

$123,900 - $177,000 annually

Please note, the base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other applicable business and organizational needs. 

 

This role is incentive eligible based upon company, business, and/or individual goal achievement and performance.
