POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Subsidiary Accounting Manager in the Finance team, this position is responsible for the accounting and reconcilements related the investments portfolio of the Company. This role is also responsible for tracking principal and interest payments, reconciling cash accounts used in settling securities and ensuring the investments portfolio subledger system ties to the GL.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for recording activity of the investments portfolio, including changes in principal & interest payments, monthly accruals, discount/premium amortization and change in MV. Own and prepare reporting and analysis on the investments portfolio using information from the investments system to enhance monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Reconcile investments portfolio on a monthly basis and reconcile cash accounts on a daily basis. Investigate reconciling items by discussing with the Treasury department and external counterparties. Identify reason for cash differences on securities settlements and make corrections as needed.
  • Understand the products and mapping from the subledger to the GL, propose changes for mapping when needed for new products or changes in reporting are required. Possess technical knowledge of products in order to identify mapping changes needed.
  • Provide breakdown of investments portfolio required for SEC and Regulatory reporting, and research and provide explanations on variances from prior quarter and prior year.
  • Special projects and ad-hoc requests will be requested as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years work experience in Accounting or Finance, with specialization in Treasury/securities related products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Proficiency in generally accepted accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Detailed-oriented, organized and able to work with various professional groups in a fast-paced environment

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate.

This position involves travel to customers and property locations.

  • Prolonged sitting
  • Lifting from 5 to 10 lbs. (printer paper, storage boxes)
  • Occasional bending or overhead lifting (storing files or boxes)
  • The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting.
