Portfolio Manager I


Under general direction, this position’s primary responsibilities include all aspects of portfolio management as relates to assigned portfolio loans together with the cross selling of Bank products and services.  Additional responsibilities will include the preparation of comprehensive Loan Offering Analyses that evaluate the prospective financing properties, incorporating complex underwriting to include cash flow analysis, project economics and valuation, guarantor analysis, market analysis and recommendation.  The loan analyses include both commercial loan and commercial permanent owner occupied mortgages or commercial construction and commercial permanent mortgages.  




  • Monitor maturities and past dues.
    • Gather package to submit maturing loans to underwriting and discuss any changes in terms with RM prior to submission
    • Work with RM to reach out to Borrowers who have past due payments.  If the delinquency will not be cured by month end, alert PM TL and RM TL for possible change in credit quality.
  • Monitor daily RIP items, work with RM to determine a decision, obtain required approval per Loan Policy, and enter decision into RIP workbook by 1pm.
  • Calculate covenant compliance of the C&I portfolio that will be reviewed with RM and PM TL.
    • If in compliance send through Adobe for signature.
    • Prepare Covenant Waiver in CQ if not met.
  • Prepare financial request letter, monitor receipt with follow up on missing items, and review financials within 10 days
    • Work with RM to follow up on missing items
    • Send to Lending Specialist to be scanned into VC and tickler to be updated.
    • Alert RM and PM TL if a 3rd request letter is being sent out for possible change in credit quality.
  • Prepare for Ardmore Reviews including reviewing Vision Content and Ticklers for accuracy
  • Review and input monthly Borrowing Bases into Horizon and provide copy of certificate and backup that has been signed off to the Lending Specialist to be scanned into VC and tickler updated.
  • Review and submit capex line advances to closers for funding.
    • Work with RM to have any required documentation executed.
    • Follow up on any titles related to vehicles financed.
  • Monitor the receipt of loan approvals from underwriting and assist RM with review prior to routing to approval authorities
    • Work with RM to answer underwriter’s questions
    • Review CQ application for accuracy
    • Discuss any potential upgrade or downgrade in risk rating with PM TL.
  • Monitor receipt and assist RM with review of loan documents received from closers and outside counsel.
    • Work with RM to review loan documentation for accuracy.
  • Prepare Annual Reviews to assess credit quality.  Discuss any change in credit quality with RM and PM TL.
  • RMs as needed/requested.
    • Site inspections
    • Quotes for 3rd party reporting and legal counsel
    • ROE’s
    • Deal Discussion Memos
    • Goldmine (for submission to underwriting only)
    • Prequalification package including spreads, cash flow and collateral analysis




  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment to ensure goals are met.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Proficient in Financial Spreading with an understanding of cash flow
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration


  • 3 to 5 years’ experience related to the financial or banking industry with completion of a credit training program or comparable underwriting experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required.






Work is performed in a normal office environment.  Noise levels are usually moderate.  May include travel by automobile.



The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting and those present in commuting locally by car.         Occasionally may be exposed to those conditions present in public forums and meeting places.
