Investment Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of an Investment Analyst carries two primary focusses. Firstly, the roles focus will be on learning and mastering the Tamarac trading and portfolio management system. The incumbent will keep all of the internal equity, ETF, and open architecture models current and effect changes when appropriate. Trade execution, both using Tamarac’s Fix Flyer system and manual trades from time to time will need execution. Participate in Due Diligence meetings with third party managers and begin security analysis for individual equity holdings.
Second, the focus will be on assisting more senior portfolio management team with all aspects of portfolio management of investment accounts from wealthy families and high net worth individuals, keeps clients abreast of changes in their portfolio’s, and alert them of recommended changes in investment strategy, tax and other developments, etc. when guided by more senior members of the team. Over time, this position will be building their own client relationships working in conjunction with a team providing financial planning, tax planning, and trust/estate administrative services.
As an Investment Analyst, the incumbent can anticipate training and mentoring from experienced investment professionals.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn and master the Tamarac Portfolio Management system. Participate in Due Diligence meetings with third party managers and begin security analysis for individual equity holdings
- Monitors individual equity, fixed income and alternative investment models and monitor asset allocation for high-net-worth client accounts.
- Helps set and record asset allocation and total return objectives based on management’s investment philosophy and each client’s objectives. Be responsible and accountable for accurate reflection of client data on the Tamarac system.
- Builds a high level of confidence in BTC’s capabilities and in his/her knowledge of investment management. Articulates investment strategies. Keeps informed of material changes in financial markets and the firm’s overall macroeconomic and financial market outlook. circumstances. Stays abreast of various legal and tax consequences of investment strategies.
- Interacts with client base on a close basis in order to generate client’s confidence that the comprehensive management strategies are tailored to their needs and meet/exceed their expectations.
- Contributes actively in investment meetings.
- Maintains accurate records in accordance with Bank & BTC regulatory policies.

SKILLS AND TRAINING
- • Desire to learn how to analyze equity and fixed income securities and be able to initiate portfolio recommendations.
• Possess basic knowledge of various asset classes as well as allocation strategies & investments in equity and fixed income markets.
• Excellent customer service delivered in a timely professional manner.
• Proficient with software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook), along with a general knowledge of technology systems.
• Possess high degree of honesty and integrity. Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards when dealing with clients and the public.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills needed to deal with a mix of personalities and egos.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance or Business Administration preferred. MBA in Finance preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 years of experience related to financial industry with client portfolio management responsibility for managing discretionary and non-discretionary investment accounts for high net worth individuals & families
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Licenses and Certifications
• FINRA Series 65 required/ to be obtained.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate.
